Our initiatives focus on empowering women to generate their own income, achieve economic independence, and actively participate in decision-making processes that affect their well-being.
As part of our long-term rehabilitation strategy for survivors of violence, ISD has supported several women with seed money to initiate small income-generatingactivities based on their individual skills and interests—such as running vegetable shops, grocery outlets, tea stalls, or snack corners.

Advancing Gender Equality and Women’s Right
The Project is implementing in a rural set up of Badamba Block of Cuttack District in the State of Odisha in India. The project covered weaver communities of this area. This area has a unique culture of weaving by almost every family especially women members. This area is widely known for its local brand of apparel known as Mania Bandha Saree (A women attire in India). This Block consists of 38-Gram Panchayats (Rural Self Governance Institutions) covering 140-villages with a population of approximately 16 million.
Out of these 140 villages and 38 Gram Panchayats, the Project identified 5-Gram Panchayats where predominantly weaving communities reside. Preventing and Addressing Trafficking in Women and Girls in Odisha

ISD had the opportunity to implement a project titled “Preventing and Addressing Trafficking in Women and Girls in Odisha” with the generous support of the Global Fund for Women, USA. The project was implemented over a three year period, beginning on 1st January 2014.
The intervention was primarily undertaken in the tribal regions of Daringibadi and Raikia Blocks in Kandhamal district, Odisha, with an extended focus on strengthening institutional mechanisms across the entire district to address issues related to human trafficking.

Addressing Sexual Harassment of Women at the Workplace
The issue of sexual harassment of women at the workplace is fundamentally one of discrimination and gender inequality, denying women their right to equal opportunity and dignity in employment. Eliminating all forms of sexual harassment is essential to ensure a safe, respectful, and conducive work environment for women.
Recognizing this as a human rights concern, ISD has prioritized the prevention of workplace harassment as a core thematic focus since its inception. As part of it sinitiatives, ISD has built strong collaborations with media institutions, launched an online complaint system, and introduced a helpline number for working women seeking support and guidance.
