The Maadhyam Women Support Centers operate from the premises of the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar, and the Mahila Police Station, Cuttack, to assist women who experience violence in any form and seek police intervention for redressal of their grievances.
Forms of violence against women addressed by the Centers include:
broken relationships, sexual harassment, rape, molestation, eve-teasing, stalking, intimate partner violence, false promises of marriage, kidnapping and abduction, trafficking, cybercrime, voyeurism, and domestic violence.
While the concerned police stations provide necessary action and legal recourse as per law, the Maadhyam Centers complement these efforts by offering counseling and alternative support services, including legal aid, medical assistance, shelter, and livelihood opportunities.
Objectives of the Center
- To provide counseling support to women victims of physical, emotional, and sexual violence, including false promises of marriage, kidnapping, trafficking, cybercrime, voyeurism, and domestic violence.
- To extend legal, medical, and Community based rehabilitation assistance to women victims, including shelter facilities and livelihood support, as required, through ISD.
- To organize Police–Public interface meetings to foster awareness and strengthen community participation in preventing violence against women.
- Building Leadership Among Women Survivors in Slum area of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack City
