Prevention and Addressing Trafficking in Women and Girls

ISD had the opportunity to implement a project titled “Preventing and Addressing Trafficking in Women and Girls in Odisha” with the generous support of the Global Fund for Women, USA. The project was implemented over a three-year period, beginning on 1st January 2014.

The intervention was primarily undertaken in the tribal regions of Daringibadi and Raikia Blocks in Kandhamal district, Odisha, with an extended focus on strengthening institutional mechanisms across the entire district to address issues related to human trafficking.

The project strategically targeted the source areas of trafficking, where women and girls are often vulnerable to migration and exploitation. Through this initiative, ISD worked to prevent trafficking in all its forms and for various purposes—including trafficking under the pretext of marriage, employment, or other forms of forced occupation.
