Protection of Women from Sexual Harassment at Workplace

The issue of sexual harassment of women at the workplace is fundamentally one of discrimination and gender inequality, denying women their right to equal opportunity and dignity in employment. Eliminating all forms of sexual harassment is essential to ensure a safe, respectful, and conducive work environment for women.

Recognizing this as a human rights concern, ISD has prioritized the prevention of workplace harassment as a core thematic focus since its inception. As part of its initiatives, ISD has built strong collaborations with media institutions, launched an online complaint system, and introduced a helpline number for working women seeking support and guidance.

Through these efforts, ISD has received numerous calls from women, as well as their relatives and friends, seeking assistance. The organization provides counseling and guidance to help survivors take informed action. Many women facing domestic violence have also reached out through the helpline. Such cases are promptly referred to the Maadhyam Women Support Centre, operated by ISD from the premises of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate.
